Gear: The gear topic made it to the top of the list for one reason. You might be super excited and ready to jump in the deep end but there's an issue; you don't own any outdoors equipment or what you do have has seen better days. That's ok! Sojourner has expert guides that stand ready to assist you with gear selection. This can be done through one-on-one consultation if you need assistance or by referencing recommended packing lists. Additionally, you can rent equipment from Sojourner for your convenience.
"What type of adventure should I go with?"
Bushcraft & Survival Training: Sojourner provides a platform where you can take a step away from society and rediscover yourself through classroom instruction and realistic wilderness skills field training. Training levels range from novice to advanced and everything in-between. Training Scenarios are comprised of multi-day, practical application of the SSO individual training skills and beyond. This is where your skills are put to the test in a controlled environment. While there is inherent danger in any survival situation, participants will be closely monitored and assisted when necessary. Skilled advisors are made available to assist throughout the journey.
Embrace Survival
Guided Excursions & Expeditions: Consists of guided adventures ranging from local (TN) or regional excursions to nationwide expeditions. Less intense than the survival training, the recreational excursions are guided outdoors adventures and are enjoyable for people of all ages and skill levels. This portion of the platform is still in development. The most likely near term location will be back-country camping trips to The Land Between the Lakes located just north of Dover, TN. The first nationwide expedition will likely be the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) located in northern Minnesota.
