Basic Survival Course
2 days / 1 night

A solid foundation is essential when it comes to one’s ability to survive in the wilderness. The Basic Survival Course is designed to outfit students with fundamental wilderness survival skills. In an outdoor emergency, anything can happen. It is important to put in the time and effort ahead of time to ensure that you are prepared. At the completion of this course, students will possess the necessary foundational skills to respond appropriately in real-world survival scenarios.

This course is moderately physically demanding and includes hiking with a 50 +/- pound pack, sleeping in a tent or shelter, processing firewood, conducting survival and camp-related activities, and treating and drinking water that is procured from nature. Full participation in the training is encouraged for students. Training modifications are available, through prior coordination, for students with medical conditions. Advanced Survival Course
3 days / 2 nights
​
Building on the foundational skills learned during the Basic Survival Course, the Advanced Survival Course takes training to the next level. The course begins with a brief overview of the Sojourner Wilderness Skills and includes the introduction of additional survival skills. Once prepared, students will be inserted into a simulated survival environment where their abilities will be put to the test.

This course is physically and emotionally demanding and can include hiking with a 50 +/- pound pack, being a passenger on watercraft and/or all-terrain vehicles, sleeping in a tent or shelter, processing firewood, conducting survival and camp-related activities, and treating and drinking water that is procured from nature. Full participation in the training is encouraged for students. Training modifications are available, through prior coordination, for students with medical conditions. Bushcraft Resiliency Course

There is something special to be said about wilderness enthusiasts who are capable of utilizing their surroundings in a productive and sustainable way. The Bushcraft Resiliency Course covers the basics of bushcraft skills. Students will be taught how to best utilize the natural resources around them to create a sustainable short-term living situation.
